About Sandy
She Beads...She used to garden
"I call my hand rolled clay beads She Beads®, because it is what they are and it is what I do," says Sandy Rueve, creator of She Beads. She credits her inspiration for She Beads designs to her love of perennial gardening, and has translated her adeptness for garden design into jewelry and accessory design. The change of seasons brings new color palettes and clay cane designs to She Beads that are all blended sensibly and artistically under Sandy's creative direction.
Sandy developed her sense of style and flair for design while growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from St. Ursula Academy she went on to receive her certification in Radiology from the highly acclaimed Christ Hospital. She became a devoted stay-at-home mother of two. She soon began to juggle three part-time jobs to care for her family, which included working as an x-ray technician for the Chicago Bulls. As her creative outlet, and way to help make ends meet, Sandy began a small cottage business designing and selling jewelry and accessories. A fortunate meeting with Michael Jordan in 1993 laid the foundation for what would become She Beads.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and a keen sense of style, form and function serving as her foundation, Sandy has built a successful company. She is also deeply committed to She Beads philanthropic efforts. Through partnerships with selected charities, She Beads creates beautiful beads to represent the charitable causes. The Charity Bead Collection ™ reflects her personal connection to the struggles that she fights with passion and conviction. "Our purpose is not just to donate the proceeds, but to become an advocate for education, to grow awareness, and connect people with similar experiences," explains Sandy.
During these last twelve years as "Bead Diva", Sandy has traveled across the country demonstrating her artistry of hand-rolled clay bead making. In her travels she has listened to thousands of women share their She Beads stories. "One customer's experience with She Beads starts a cascade of awareness. A woman's connection to She Beads results in powerful relationships with other women," Sandy explains. It is truly a testament to Sandy's mission to touch people deeply through her unique works of art.
Sandy serves as President and Founder of the company and resides in Evanston, Illinois with her high-school age daughter. She also has a son attending college. These days Sandy doesn't have much time to pursue her love of gardening anymore, as she continues to help She Beads grow and flourish.
